Curriculum 2013 is a competency-based curriculum designed to anticipate the needs of the 21st Century competencies In this century, as we can together watch, creativity and communication ability will be very important. Integrated Thematic Learning Series books for Grade IV SD / MI is based on the above concept. As usual textbooks that refers to a competency-based curriculum, this book contains lesson plans based activity. In it includes learning sequences expressed in the activities that must be performed learners. The book is directed to do learners along with teachers and classmates to achieve a certain competence; not a book to read the material, filled, or memorized.

Achievement of competence integrated as the formula above, requires an integrated thematic learning approach, namely to study all subjects in an integrated manner through the themes of life encountered daily learners. Learners are invited to follow the learning process competencies taught transdisciplinary which is associated with the context of the learners and their environment. Materimateri lesson-lesson linked to each other as a unit to form multi-disciplinary learning and inter-disciplinary in order to avoid overlap and lack of harmony between the subject matter. The goal is to achieve efficiency of the material to be learned and the effectiveness of absorption by learners.

This book outlines the minimal effort to do learners to achieve the expected competencies. In accordance with the approach used in the 2013 curriculum, students are invited to be brave to look for other learning resources available and sprawling surroundings. The teacher's role in improving and adjusting the absorption of learners with the availability of the activities in this book is so important. Teachers can enrich it with the creation in the form of other activities that are relevant sourced from social and natural environment.

For the first edition, this book is open and should be carried out repairs and improvements.
